About Birla Mandir

The city of Jaipur is famous for it’s forts but it is equally famous for the temples as well. The Pink city has many famous temples, one of the best among them all is Birla Temple which is also known as Laxmi Narayan Temple. It is among the several temples built by the prominent business family of India, the Birlas. This one has been dedicated to lord Vishnu as his other name is Laxmi Narayan and hence it is named as Lxmi Narayan Temple as well.

Birla Mandir History

The prominent structure was built during the latter half of 1980s, 1988 to be the precise year and is famous more for it's fine piece of architecture then the idols. The Birla group of Industries has been credited for building several temples all across the country. Situated at the foot of the Moti Doongri Hills which houses one of the most famous temple of the city, the Moti Doongri Temple, the one dedicated to the Lord Ganesha. The Birla family was and still is a great patron of Lord Vishnu and they have built all these temples in every corner of the country to commemorate their gratitude towards the Lord of lords.

Birla Mandir Architecture

The architectural beauty of the Birla Temple is superb, this is made up of white marble with fine engraving on the stones. Standing at a higher base than the normal, this has become a landmark in itself. The monument has three domes which symbolizes the three different approach of the Hindu Religion. The white marble shines in the dark and it mesmerizes visitors and onlookers. The idol of God Vishnu and Goddess Laxmi has been scripted out from a single piece of stone and the tourist cannot resist themselves to applaud the hard work put into by the artist. The scriptures and verses from the Hindu mythology can be found on the walls and the stained glass. The main entry is being serenaded by the Lord Ganesha, the lord of prosperity and happiness. It is said in the Hindu religion that if you start something auspicious and wants to excel in that than it should be started by calling out Ganesha as he is the lord who should be worshipped before anyone else to take a permission for further rituals.

How to Reach Birla Mandir

The Birla Temple, Jaipur is one of the few Monuments which is situated right into the middle of the city and it can be reached in million ways. Almost all the ways from the Railway station and Bus Stand will take one straight to the site which can be seen in from a fair distance with the backdrop of Moti Doongri hills. The public transport is readily available at regular intervals from all parts of the city and its on the way to NH8 from the Sindhi Camp, the Interstate Bus terminal. The best time to visit the monument is Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays when there is a 'Pooja' going on as these days are of prime important for Lord Vishnu.
