History of Jaipur

Jaipur was established in the year 1727 by the then king Sawai Jai Singh II, after the he felt the scarcity of water and to provide more security to the people. It lies 11 kms from the old capital, Amber. He has shown special interest in the design of the new Jaipur city. The blueprint of the city was finalized after consulting with many experts from all over the subcontinent region.

After several battles with the Maraths, the security of the people was in danger, which make him to design a brilliantly planned city. Being lover of mathematics and science, he took advices from scholars who provide remarkable contribution while designing the new Jaipur city.

With a strategic plan, the construction of the city started in 1727. It took around 4 years to complete the major palaces, roads and square. The design and establishment was completed by year 1735, but Brahmpuri was established before this. The design of Jaipur was made by the king after discussions with the experts of Bengal, Maharashtra and Gujrat, who were invited to the city for this purpose and after that settled in Brahmpuri, the first colony of Jaipur.

Initialy all buildings were made of mortar, bricks and stones and colored with the blue dye. The color fusion of Jaipur at that time was white and blue.The pink city was divided into nine blocks, among them two constitute the official buildings and palaces, and remaining seven blocks were allotted to the public for residence and market. The galleries of these blocks cross each others. Also, seven strong gates were build keeping in mind the security of the region.The color pink was introduced in 1853 to welcome the Price of Wales. Jaipur is rich in its cultural and architectural beauty, which can be traced in the various historical and aesthetic places that reside in the city. This city of victory really wins the hearts of the people with its splendid charisma.
